Visceral Games was an American video game developer and a subsidiary of Electronic Arts. The studio was founded in 1998 as EA Redwood Shores. Since its founding and until 2008, the studio was mainly creating licensed games based on such franchises as Godfather, Simpsons, James Bond 007, The Lord of the Rings. It also made three installments in Tiger Woods PGA Tour series. In 2008, EA released Dead Space which became the most successful EA Redwood Shores project. The game gained widespread critical acclaim and sold more than 2 million copies. The next, the company was renamed as Visceral Games. The studio created two Dead Space sequels, former of which was also well-received while the later met a mixed response from fans of the series and critic. The reception of three other games developed by Visceral – Dante’s Inferno, Battlefield Hardline and Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel was also ambiguous. In 2014 the company started developing a game in Star Wars universe known as Project Ragtag. However, in October 2017 Electronic Arts decided to close Visceral Games, so the game was never released.
