Ubisoft Entertainment is a French-based game publisher.
History
Ubisoft was founded by the Guillemot brothers in 1986. At first, the studio was publishing EA, Sierra, and Microprose games in France.
The first Ubisoft development office was opened in 1994 and began their first game series, Rayman, in the same year. As of 2018, Ubisoft Entertainment has 49 offices around the world.
Main series
The main titles that brought popularity to Ubisoft are Tom Clancy's military shooter series, Ubisoft's own IP Assassin's Creed, Rayman series, and Far Cry.
Ubisoft also owns several party game franchises, such as Raving Rabbids and Just Dance.
Digital distribution
In 2009, with the release of Assassin's Creed 2, Ubisoft launched its own online marketplace called Uplay. It allows the players to communicate with each other, get achievements, and gain certain rewards for playing games.
