Rockstar Games is a British/American video game developer and publisher.
History
The company was established in 1998 after Take-Two Interactive purchased a small British studio BMG Interactive by two of its executives, the Houser brothers. Take-Two had also acquired the rights on Grand Theft Auto series with the purchase, which became the main title of the newly established company.
Rockstar Games titles set multiple records for the most grossing games in the video game history. Its Grand Theft Auto V is the most sold game to date with over 85 million units sold.
Operations
Rockstar Games focuses on third-person action titles. It was said by Dan Houser in October 2011 that the company is avoiding first-person shooters intentionally.
In the first days of its creation, Rockstar Games assisted other studios in both development and publishing. Remedy with its Max Payne, for example.
Most popular titles by Rockstar include Grand Theft Auto series, Midnight Club series, Manhunt 1&2, and Max Payne.
