CD PROJEKT RED is a Polish-based video game developer and publisher.
History
CDPR was found in May 1994 by Marcin Iwinski and Michal Kicinski. At first, CD PROJEKT focused on the localization of Western games with one of their first successful localization title being Ace Ventura.
The company later approached BioWare and Interplate to translate Baldur's Gate, which was met with acclaim in Poland.
In 2002, CDPR established its own development studio that is now popular for its Witcher series.
Operations
CD PROJECT RED is a young company that largely focuses on its own titles rather than the publishing efforts. It only holds one game series, that being The Witcher series, and a cyberpunk title Cyberpunk 2077.
Digital Distribution
In 2008, CDPR launched GOG.com, which offered the users the purchase of DRM-free games. CD PROJEKT RED is also a heavy advocate for DRM-free commercial strategies. CDPR helps small developers publish their games in the store. Moreover, CDPR also features multiple AAA titles in its store.
